By nature, children differ in terms of their activity level, sensitivity and distractibility. We recognize that growth entails making mistakes and that challenges are a normal part of any child’s development. Therefore we remain respectful in these difficult situations and offer verbal explanations and/or guidance to help build confidence, competence and problem-solving skills.
We provide an environment that promotes cooperative relationships so that children learn to relate with each other in positive ways. Physical education and play is important and children of all abilities should be included to participate.
Schedules, routines, and transitions serve as a framework from which children gain trust, stability, and security. While these can be flexible to some degree, they must provide children with clear guidelines about what is expected. Meeting children’s needs throughout the day requires that time be appropriately balanced between activity and rest periods and individual and group activities.
